Easter Bunny’s visit to CRCH

Easter comes every year and CRCH are always remembered by many at this time. We get donations of bunnies , eggs, mashmallows and easter hampers for the children and often that is all the children remembers – was having Easter eggs. How many of us stop to think about where it all started? Why do we celebrate Easter? A new beginning, for each and every one. When children are admitted to CRCH, Easter comes throughout the year because for each child’s arrival, it is a new beginning. The neglect, abuse of of the past and they are able to have a brighter future thanks to our donors.

A special thanks to everyone who donated Easter eggs/ easter hampers and arranging an Easter egg hunt for our children’s home over this Easter – thank you for teaching this valuable lesson to our children. Let’s celebrate our new beginning in Christ.

Marathon runners donate R75 000 to the home!

On Thursday the 13th April the home was was visited by 23 marathon runners from Sneek in The Netherlands.

They heard about the Two Oceans Marathon and decided to participate. By doing so they also wanted to make a difference to the local community and got in touch with the Stichting Kindertehuis Kaapstad. Christine Revell Children’s Home was selected as one of 2 projects to support.

Initially the aim was to raise €2,000 (about R30,000) but they got a total of R111,000 of which R75,000 was allocated to the CRCH.

The 23 runners met Alicia Rhoda, Pieter Postema, Maryka Vermaak and Marcel Hoogebeen who showed them around at the home and explained the background, the history and future of the children. The visit also identified where in the home the donation would be well spent.

After an hour and a half 23 very happy marathon runners left the home knowing they donated the money wisely.

Thanks to all involved, also to the Dutch “Stichting” Board members linking them up with CRCH.

Our Building Extension

We have started on our Building extension on 15th March 2017. Thanks to the sponsors and commitment of a few donors, we were able to start after waiting for a while for the approval of the plans. Special thanks to the architects, land surveyor and MNM Construction for their patience and their involvement in making this dream a reality.

We are in our 3rd week and was blessed with mostly great weather and had no unexpected delays wrt materials etc. The extension will provide the children with an indoor playroom upstairs for those cold, rainy winter days and a double garage for our vehicles.
